KPK Seizes Bhakti Investama's Tax Documents over Major Bribery Scandal

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confiscated 20 bundles of tax documents belonging to PT Bhakti Investama and PT Agis - beginning from Friday night until the early hours of Saturday. The case is linked to the latest arrest of a top tax official who happened to be the supervisor of notorious graft convict Gayus Tambunan.

Attorney of PT Bhakti Investama, Andi F. Simangunsong, said that the KPK found only 20 bundles of documents. "It's not more than a carton of instant noodles. The documents had been reported to the tax office," he said at KPK office Monday, June 11, 2012.

Andi explained that the documents seized by KPK had nothing to do with Bhakti Investama's tax refunds. He did admit that Bhakti Investama got a tax refund of Rp3.4 billion which had been accumulated since 2003.

The government paid Bhakti Investama Rp3.4 billion in tax refunds in last May. A sum of Rp800 million had been paid out to Tommy through James Gunarjo.
