TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono says good communication is the best way to settle problems in the Korean Peninsula.
When welcoming North Korean People’s Council Presidium president Kim Yong Nam at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, SBY said that misunderstandings and misperception should be avoided in issues regarding the Korean Peninsula.
“President Yudhoyono has highlighted that misunderstandings must be avoided in any issues and that dialogue and communication must be conducted. We believe that the development of both regions will be discussed by the presidents of the two countries,” said Foreign Affairs minister Marty Natalegawa in a press conference at the presidential office, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
The minister said that in his conversation with President Kim Yong Nam, SBY was informed that during the launch of the North Korean communication satellite, information was not well-distributed and had reflected badly on the North Korean side.
“Based on the information, President Yudhoyono has asserted the importance of communication and dialogue by all parties in order to avoid misunderstanding,” Marty added.
