Rudy Setyopurnomo Named Merpati Airlines CEO

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry on Monday confirmed that Merpati’s chief commissioner Rudy Setyopurnomo has replaced Sardjono Jhony Tjitrokusumo, the former leader of the airline company.
“I was asked to become Merpati CEO. The inauguration was conducted by Sumaryanto, the SOE Ministry’s deputy of infrastructure and logistics and Garuda Indonesia CEO, Emirsyah Satar,” said Rudy after the inauguration at the SOE building in Jakarta on Monday.
Rudy vowed that under his supervision the company would reap profits instead of losses through promotions and well-managed routes.
Rudy believes that Merpati has been incurring losses due to mismanagement. Rudy pointed to a route serving Jakarta-Bandung, which he says has not been maximized. As a result, the route is slower than other modes of transportation, such as the train.
