Indonesian Police Awaiting Probe Results of the TKI Shooting
Monday, 30 April, 2012 | 22:04 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Indonesian Police is still awaiting the results of the Malaysian Police's investigation into the shooting of 3 Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) by its members at Port Dickson last month. The trio from West Nusa Tenggara were shot dead for allegedly wielding machetes.

“The Malaysian Police is still probing whether the shooting was in compliance with the procedures,” said police spokesman Saud Usman Nasution, when contacted on Sunday, April 29, 2012. He added that, in addition to the procedural issue, the investigation will also look into suspected organ trafficking matters. However he added that police had no authority to intervene except requesting their counterparts in Malaysia to do a thorough investigation and be transparent with the results.

The Indonesian Police already ruled out the alleged organ smuggling after it conducted its own autopsies on the bodies before they were returned to their hometowns. Polri said that several organs might have been taken out at the Malaysian hospital for autopsies in line with the procedure.

Speculation of organ smuggling stemmed from strong suspicions when the corpses were viewed - the remains bore stitches on the eyes, chests and stomachs. The three migrant workers were identified as Herman and Abul Kadir Jaelani, both from Pancor Kopong village, South Pringgasela Sub-district, and Mad Noon from Pengadangan village, Pringgasela sub-district of West Nusa Tenggara.
