50,000 Laborers to Flock Jakarta on May Day

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto says that a total 50,000 laborers are expected to participate in a rally to commemorate World’s Labor Day on May 1. Rikwanto said the laborers would come from Tangerang, Bekasi and Pulo Gadung.

“The will arrive simultaneously on May 1 but at different times,” said Sr. Comr. Rikwanto at the Jakarta Police headquarters on Sunday. However, the spokesman said the rally participants were only given one day to conduct their rally and it should finish by 18:00 p.m.

The Jakarta Police will dispatch 16,068 security personnel consisting of joint members from the regional police headquarters, precincts, National Police headquarters and the Jakarta administration.
