Communications Ministry and Police Target Porn Sites

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Communication Ministry together with the National Police are cooperating to investigate a sex tape scandal allegedly involving a member of the House of Representatives (DPR). Communication Ministry spokesman Gatot Dewa said the joint initiative was aimed at curbing pornography.

Firstly, the ministry will randomly monitor porn sites in Indonesia—an active measure that the ministry is conducting at all times.

However, the ministry has limited resources to monitor millions of porn sites available on the Internet and therefore is calling for support from users. “Secondly, we are ready to receive reports from the public. We will follow up the reports and block the sites,” Gatot told Tempo on Thursday.
