Bukit Asam Records Rp 867B in Profits

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The state-owned coal mining company, PT Bukit Asam Tbk., registered a net profit of Rp 867,35 billion in the first quarter of this year, according to the Company's Secretary Hananto Budi Laksono, in Jakarta, on Thursday, April 26, 2012. The increase in profit is generated by the 31 percent increase in revenues totaling Rp 3 trillion. In the same period last year, the company recorded revenues of Rp 2,32 trillion.

Hananto said that the sales volume of the first 3 months was 26 percent up from 3 million ton in the same period last year to 3,86 million ton this year. “Average sales price also increased 4 percent, from Rp. 751,457 to Rp. 781,142 per ton, contributing to revenue increase,”

PT Kereta Api Indonesia, the state railway company, transports coal from the Bukit Asam mining site in Tanjung Enim to Tarahan Port in Bandar Lampung and Kertapati Harbor in Palembang.
