Prosecutors Probing Suspected Corruption in South Tangerang

TEMPO Interactive, Tangerang:Tangerang state prosecutors are probing the suspected corruption practice in the procurement of vehicle test kits, traffic signs and official vehicles for Tangerang City's Transport, Communication and Information Department. The prosecutors suspect marks up in the project. “We are now questioning the witnesses,” Head of Tigaraksa State Prosecuting team, Samsuri said on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

Samsuri confirmed that they have already questioned 7 witnesses form the Transport Department, among others Nurdin Marzuki (Head) and Edi Wahyu (Secretary), who were incumbent officials at the time of the 3,4 billion project was carried out in 2010-2011,

However, the prosecutors have not calculated yet the State's losses caused by the corruption. During the Friday's investigation, they confiscated 3 bundles of files and one unit computer as evidence.

Former Secretary of South Tangerang's Transport Department Edi Wahyu, who is now Head of South Tangerang Tourism Department confirmed his questioning, but refused to divulge the details of his statement to the investigators.
