Support for Ical's Presidential Bid Not Yet 100 Percent

TEMPO Interactive, Sampang:Chairman of Golkar of Sampang Regency, East Java, Sayuti said that although 38 Golkar leaders across the whole East Java region have not yet expressed full support for Aburizal Bakrie's presidential candidacy, “The support map can still change,” he said in Sampang, Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

Change in support for Ical, as Abruzil Bakrie is known, Sayuti said, will occur if, he loses in the popularity survey to other candidates such as Akbar Tandjung and Jusuf Kalla. The survey will be deliberated in the Golkar Party National Leaders' Special Meeting in June.

“If Ical is less popular, I'm sure our East Java Golkar colleagues will reconsider their support,” he said. Besides Ical, he said,
another candidate worthy of consideration is Akbar Tandjung who is considered staunchly loyal to Golkar. “As regards Jusuf Kalla, I think we'd better drop him as he had once advanced to the ring before, but failed,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sayuti said he is in favor of accelerating the meeting. He also ruled out rumors that Golkar Sampang rejected the special meeting. “Sometime ago, the Chairman of Golkar Aceh called me to discuss the meeting. I said I support the acceleration which is to be confirmed in writing so that it will not be subject to change,” he clarified.
