Miranda Admits Knowing Artha Graha Officials

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Former Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy-Governor Miranda Swaray Goeltom has admitted to knowing two officers of Bank Artha Graha, Wisnu Tjandra and Henny Angelino Nangoi. The two are the vice presidents of the bank which ordered traveler’s checks from Bank Internasional Indonesia allegedly used later to bribe some members of the House of Representatives (DPR).

The acquaintance took place in after June 2004. “They presented themselves as directors [of Bank Artha Graha]. They often attend Bank Indonesia’s events,” said Miranda when testifying against defendant Nunun Nurbaetie at the Anti-Graft Court (Tipikor) on Monday.

Artha Graha Vice President Wisnu Tjandra claimed that his relationship with Miranda was purely professional. “We only know each other to extent of relationship between the bank’s board of directors with Bank Indonesia officials,” Wisnu told TEMPO via text messaging.
