TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has called on the police to immediately pursue the shooters of Trigana Air plane in Mulia Airport, Puncak Jaya, on Sunday. “This is wrong. It upsets the public’s psychology. It must be prevented,” said presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha yesterday.
However until today, there has not been any instruction to increase the number of security personnel from the police or the Indonesian military. “If I’m not mistaken, the president instructed that the number of troops mustn’t be sufficient. There shouldn’t be too many of them,” said Julian.
The twin otter plane was shot by an armed group located 30 – 50 meters fro the airport. The incident killed Papua Pos Nabire’s journalist, Leiron Kogoya Muliambut and injured Captain Pilot Bebi Astek, (40), copilot Willy Resubun, (30), Yanti, (30) and Papua Korwa (4).
