TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Jak TV cameraman Ananto Handoyo, who was injured reportedly following an acid attack, has filed his report to the Press Council on Monday. Ananto suffered from burns on his forehead and left cheek after a reported acid attack to his face, during the coverage of fuel price hikes outside the House of Representatives (DPR) building on Friday. Agus Subagyo, Press Council’s director of Public Complaints and Ethical Enforcement, said that his council is committed to handling the case seriously. “It looks simple but this is dangerous,” said Agus on Monday.
Agus said the Press Council will discuss the case internally with the police. In addition, Agus added that the council will establish an independent fact-finding team to identify the perpetrator. The fact-finding team will consist of members of the Press Council, media workers, Independent Journalist Alliance (AJI), and Indonesian Television Journalist Association (IJTI). “The police may also be included,” Agus said.
