Tuesday, 06 March, 2012 | 14:44 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, SEMARANG:The sixth international inter-faith dialogue will be held in Semarang, Central Java, from March 11 – 15. The meeting will be attended by religious leaders from 15 countries, including New Zealand, Australia, East Timor, Papua New Guinea and other Southeast Asian countries.
“On the agenda is how to empower and strengthen the people’s foundation to create security and peace through inter-faith dialogues,” said the Central Java Religious Ministry’s Office head, Imam Haromain, yesterday.
Semarang was chosen because it is one of the model areas for inter-religious tolerance. Previously, Indonesia hosted the first Asia Pacific trans-faith dialogue in Yogyakarta in 2004. The event will be opened on March 12 by the foreign minister.
