Jokowi Promises to Improve Esemka Car

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Transportation Ministry has announced that the Esemka car has not passed the emissions test. Based on the results from the Serpong Propulsion Machine Thermodynamics Agency on Monday, Esemka does not meet the Environment Ministry’s standards, the Transportation Ministry’s public communication center head, Bambang S. Ervan, said on Thursday.

The failure has not discouraged Surakarta Mayor Joko Widodo. The supporter of the car assembled by vocational school students said he would still fight for the Esemka. “We’ll fix it,” he said yesterday, adding the Esemka would undergo another emissions test.
