Democrat to Restructure the Faction’s Elite

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The Democrat is preparing a massive restructuring in an attempt to boost its beleaguered image.

Democrat Faction deputy, Sutan Bhatoegana, said this was a “cleaning up” movement. “Hopefully this is the right way to get the Democrat Party noticed,” he said yesterday.

He said this was proof the party was committed to fighting corruption. Sutan said the Democrat Party was strengthening the Supervisory Commission’s role by giving suggestions to the Board of Counselors about the right members for the faction.

Sutan said the restructuring was sparked by the alleged involvement of the party’s elite in the Athlete Hall case. He promised the party would be fair in its rotation, saying indicted members, such as Muhammad Nazaruddin, Angelina Sondakh and Sudewo, had been dismissed.
