Minister Muhaimin Accused of Lying

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Syaifullah Tamliha, chairman of the Indonesian Islamic Students Movement (PMII) Alumni Association, has accused Manpower Muhaimin Iskandar of lying about Muhammad Fauzi. “It’s odd that Muhaimin said that he doesn’t know Fauzi,” said Syaifullah dueing a discussion at the PMII office on Jakarta on Sunday.

When testifying against defendant Dadong Irbarelawan and I Nyoman Suisnaya on Monday last week, Muhaimin said that he only knew Fauzi as the mailman at the National Awakening Party’s (PKB) Central Leadership Board. “When the board needs my signature, he [Fauzi] will bring me the documents,” said Muhaimin at the Jakarta Anti-Graft Court (Tipikor). Muhaimin also said that he never discussed about the Transmigration Area Infrastructural Development Acceleration Project with Fauzi.

According to Syaifullah, Fauzi is a close friend of Muhaimin when they were still involved with PMII administration. Fauzi was PMII’s secretariat staff when Muhaimin chaired as chairman at that time.
