Subsidized Fuel Prices to Rise April 1
Friday, 24 February, 2012 | 21:28 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The government is expecting to raise subsidized fuel prices by April. Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said the government will be proposing for a discussion over 2012 revised state budget in March. “[And] 30 days after the proposal, [the price hike] can be implemented,” said the minister on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Agus believes that the price increase will be implemented as scheduled. The policy, Agus went on, is intended to control the surge in consumptions and the expanding oil subsidies budget. However, Agus refused to specify the new price range to be proposed by the government. “Later, at the House of Representatives [DPR].”

DPR Energy Commission member Satya W. Yudha has requested the government to immediately propose a revised state budget not later than early March. “The target must be reached on April 1. It’s the right moment.”
