Chery Returns to Indonesia

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:After separating with Indomobil last year, Chery International has returned to Indonesia through PT Chery Mobil Indonesia. The biggest car producer in China says that Indonesia has huge potential in the automotive market.

“Indonesia is one of the most important markets to us,” Zhou Biren, Chery International president, said yesterday.

Chery Mobil Indonesia will be the official distributor of Chery automobiles, which are imported readymade into Indonesia. Previously, Chery distributed its products through PT Suzuki Indomobil.

Chery plans to build 12 showrooms, eight of which will be located in Java and the rest in Bali, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra. The construction will cost Rp2-3 billion.
