Did Nasir Violate House Rules?
Friday, 17 February, 2012 | 13:56 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:M. Prakosa, Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) Ethics Board, said that his board has found strong indications of violations to the code of ethics committed by DPR Law Commission member Muhammad Nasir. Prakosa said that the evidence given by Justice and Human Rights Deputy-Minister Denny Indrayana showed that Nasir had misused his authority. “There are indications of misappropriation,” said Prakosa on Thursday.

Denny, in an unscheduled inspection on Wednesday, Feb. 8, caught Nasir making an illegal visit to the Cipinang Penitentiary. Nasir was visiting his brother Muhammad Nazaruddin who is being tried over the SEA Games athletes’ village project scandal. The visit was illegal because it was conducted outside visiting hours.

Denny, when asked for information by the Ethics Board, handed over, among others, some evidence such as a CCTV recording, a guest book, and some information from the officer on duty. Denny said that Nasir came with three former lawyers of Mindo Rosalina Manulang, who is a suspect in the athletes’ village case.
