Angelina Sondakh Holds Big Boss’ Card

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Angelina Sondakh is believed to have been Anas Urbaningrum’s confidante in gathering funds for several government projects.

According to M. Nazaruddin’s lawyer Ria Irsyad, alleged cooperation is indicated from her BlackBerry messages to Mindo Rosalina Manulang, the marketing director of PT Anak Negeri, a company owned by Nazaruddin.

The messages show that Angelina often asked Rosa for money. “She also mentioned the ‘big boss,’ which is Anas,” said Ria yesterday. “Doesn’t that show that Angelina was the mediator?” she asked.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Angelina as suspect last Friday for receiving Rp191 billion in bribes in relation the SEA Games Athlete Hall project in Palembang.

KPK chairman Abraham Samad confirmed he had strong evidence to charge the House member. However, he refused to reveal it, saying it was part of the KPK’s investigation strategy.

Until this news went to print, Angelina declined to comment. “Her family is ready if Angelina is detained by the KPK,” said her brother-in-law Mudji Massaid yesterday.
