Friday, 03 February, 2012 | 12:47 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Tangerang, West Java:Some companies have proposed for wage payment postponement for laborers in Tangerang area. The request was made to compensate the companies’ compliance to the minimum wage revision stipulated by Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah. The Tangerang Regency minimum wage has been revised from Rp1,379,000 to Rp1,527,000 per month.
Juanda Usman, the Tangerang Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) secretary-general, said that the companies asked for postponement because of their unstable financial condition. “Some [companies] are having difficulties. We haven’t recorded the number,” said Juanda on Thursday.
Koswara, the Workers Union Aliance chairman, said that 93 companies have asked for postponement. This situation has caused unrest among laborers and may potentially lead to another strike. The laborers will go on a strike again on Feb. 9 if the point on wage postponement is not revised.
