Rice from Thailand to Flood the Market in December

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Imported rice from Thailand has been confirmed to enter the market beginning December. State logistics Agency (Bulog) CEO Sutarto Alimoeso said Thailand will be exporting 300,000 tonnes of rice.

In order to secure rice stocks until the end of this year, the government has also searched for another exporting country—India. Rice from India—250,000 tonnes—with gradually enter the Indonesia market beginning the end of this year.

“Earlier, there was no certainty from Thailand about rice exports. Therefore, we import rice from India,” said Sutarto on Monday.
