Bank Indonesia to Give Certification for Micro-Businesses

TEMPO Interactive, Salatiga, Central Java:The banking or financial institutions sometimes sell micro-businesses short or, more often than not, the financing institutions choose the wrong businesses to finance and end up burdened with unprofitable ones.
On the other hand, many banks are aggressively financing micro-businesses because the banks lose their corporate customers. “Bank Danamon and BTPN, for instance, are actively expanding to the micro-businesses,” said Bank Indonesia spokesman Difi Johansyah last week in Salatiga, Central Java.
Corporate customers are turning away from the banking sector because they can no longer gain capital from the capital market and, therefore, the banking sector compensates by spurring the micro-market sector. Difi said that problems arise when banks encounter difficulties in monitoring bankable micro-businesses.
