TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:The orangutan protection organization has urged the government to immediately follow up on alleged orangutan slaughter in East Kalimantan.
Daniek Hendarto, a campaigner from the Center for Orangutan Protection, said in Jakarta yesterday that the most recent slaughter occurred at the Metro Kajang palm oil plantation, which belongs to a Malaysian company in Muara Kaman, East Kalimantan.
On November 3, a male orangutan was found beaten up in the plantation area. On October 29, an orangutan skeleton was also found there.
