TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Bank Indonesia Governor, Darmin Nasution is convinced this year’s inflation will be below six percent year on year. “Probably 5.8-5.9 percent based on our observation,” said Darmin in Jakarta last week.
According to Darmin, the data is supported by low inflation rates during the past several months. In May, the condition is estimated to follow the March-April deflation. Food prices, especially volatile foods, still tend to fall.
Economist A. Prasentyantoko said the June 2011 inflation rate will rise again, as a result of food and energy prices upon as school holidays begin. According to Prasenyantoko, the world oil prices remain unstable, particularly since the government is rumored to be reducing its fuel subsidies.
